Inspired by the poem Mattina (morning) by Giuseppe Ungaretti, which articulates the powerful connection to be found between an individual and the universe, Cattaneo sought to reframe her joyful experience of waking to the waters of the lagoon. Illuminated clouds are cast as an onyx frame around a rose-tinted mirror where she invites us to reflect on ourselves as we look at the world.
