Maximilian Magnus

Maximilian Magnus was born into a Bavarian family of sculptors and painters and has established himself as a prominent figure in contemporary painting and collage, working alongside some of the industry’s most distinguished names and exhibiting in prestigious galleries worldwide. After moving to New York, he became the first artist allowed to live, work, and display his pieces in the former studio of Willem de Kooning. In what he defines as “large, abstract-expressionistic images”, the canvas becomes a site of emotional materialization, a place where inner experiences that drive his artistic practice are finally made visible. Magnus’s works have been exhibited in London, New York, São Paulo, Jerusalem, Berlin, and Art Basel’s Miami Beach. Some of his pieces are also part of notable collections, including those of fashion designers Giancarlo Giammetti and Valentino.
