He completed his formal training as a boat builder with Daniel Voruz in Cully, Switzerland, and later transitioned into design, working at Multiple Design Industriel in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.

In 1991, together with Aurel Aebi and Patrick Reymond, he co-founded atelier oï in La Neuveville, Switzerland. With a strong commitment to collaboration and a deep connection to materials, atelier oï has spent more than 34 years breaking down barriers between disciplines and fostering transdisciplinary creativity.

atelier oï operates at the intersection of architecture, interior design, product design, and scenography, creating holistic solutions that seamlessly integrate objects and spaces. The combination of local roots and international expertise has enabled atelier oï to design for a diverse range of national and international clients, including Louis Vuitton, Foscarini, Rimowa, and Pringle of Scotland, showcasing their innovative designs in a variety of prestigious contexts.

Armand Louis's leadership at atelier oï reflects a commitment to experimentation and cultural exchange, resulting in a diverse portfolio that resonates with both local and international audiences. He has been recognized for his contributions to the field, serving as a jury member for various design schools and competitions, and has been a member of the Swiss Federation of Architects (BSA-FAS) since 2010 and the Swiss Association of Interior Designers (VSI.ASAI) since 2012.

Armand's fascination with material research and his distinctive approach lead him to prioritize sustainability and respect for materials and craftsmanship. By pushing the limits of materials, he explores their potential-particularly those of glass, leather, and wood.
