Transcending its seemingly prosaic function—a table standing low to the floor – this sculpture expresses the dual nature of Irene’s language. The contrast between solid, white stone and pulegoso, a special glass infused with countless tiny bubbles, creates an effect of delirious opacity. To find crystallized onyx of such dimensions is rare; its formation takes millions of years, and it typically occurs only in small pieces, not broad surfaces like the one seen here.
