 Wisdom, intuition and renewal: 2025 is the Year of the Snake – making it the latest moment in a very old story. Serpents inspire both fascination and fear; they are often associated with feminity, rebirth, fertility, Mother Earth Gaia, and in hindouism they symbolise the awakening and spiritual power. Serpents coil through the arc of art history, from antiquity to the sinous lines of Art Nouveau. They remain among nature’s most compellingly symbolic creatures. This lighting sculpture looks back to these precedents – to artists like René Lalique, who frequently incorporated snakes into his designs, intertwining them with flowers and leaves, realizing pieces that were rich in implication.
