In this piece, the artist Clément Gloaguen represents a series of identical vertical forms, evoking the founding pillars of Venetian architecture. These structures, though hidden beneath the water’s surface, draw their stability from the marshy soils of the lagoon, much like roots. They embody the city’s permanence, like a vital blood network. The artist plays with the rigidity, stability, and graphic purity of these lines, thus paying tribute to the ingenuity of the Venetians. From one canvas to another, we observe the passage of time and the deterioration caused by water, visible in the more prominent drips.
